True Grass-Fed, Hormone-Free, Registered Black Angus Ground Beef
First and foremost we are a seed-stock producer, meaning we sell genetics... not meat. Occasionally however, we do have an animal that needs to be removed from the herd. When this happens, we have Hormone-Free, Grass-Fed, Black Angus ground beef for sale. This is not typical hamburger made from meat scraps. The steaks and roasts are not removed but rather, they are ground right in.
REAL ANGUS: There's a saying "Once you get the hide off... they're all Angus" meaning anybody can buy an "Angus Beef" sticker and slap on a package of hamburger. That doesn't make it Angus. Ours is strictly a registered herd which means our ground beef is from Black Angus cattle that are registered with American Angus Association showing Black Angus genetics that can easily be documented going back more than 100 generations. Now that is Angus.
GRASS FED: Our calves are allowed to nurse until they are 8 months old. This eliminates the need to feed grain in order to get the growth needed to breed them on schedule. The fact that our cattle have never received grain in their lifetime is why we can make the claim our ground beef is truly "Grass-Fed". To qualify for the USDA grass-fed label, cattle must be fed only mother's milk and forage during their lifetime. The forage can be grazed or consumed as hay or other stored forage. The cattle must have access to pasture during the growing season.
Grass-fed beef contains less unhealthy monounsaturated fat and more beneficial omega-6 than grain-fed beef. To achieve these health benefits, cattle must NEVER receive corn or any other grains.
